Laborers need manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, good physical fitness, a good sense of balance, and an ability to work as a member of a team.

Perform tasks involving physical labor:

lift and carry heavy objects,

stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward positions,

outdoors in all weather conditions.

Help more experienced workers perform routine tasks:

May operate hand and power tools of all types,

cement mixers,
-
flowerbed edger ,
-
curbing machine.

May clean and prepare sites;
-
Clean up rubble and debris at the end of the job;

Assist other workers in their duties;
-
Load, unload, and prepare materials according to project specifications;
-
Must be familiar with the duties and with the materials used to perform the work;

May also experience weather-related work stoppages at any time of the year;
-
Generally work 8-hour shifts, although longer shifts are common during the spring, summer and fall;
-
Seasonal work, less hours during the winter resulting by downturns in construction activity;
-
Needs to have reliable means of transportation.
